Our Spoke & Hub network continues to grow and develop.
We have multiple operational Spokes and plan to develop Hubs in North America and Europe.
Our ‘Generation 3’ Spoke utilizes patented technology to directly process full EV battery packs
without discharging or dismantling. Li-Cycle’s planned Hub refining and recovery facilities are expected to produce recycled battery-grade lithium carbonate and process more than 100,000 tonnes of black mass per year at full capacity.
Our battery recycling facility in Tuscaloosa, AL, strengthened our North American recycling capacity, and started operations in October 2022. The Spoke can directly process full EV battery packs.
Our first battery recycling facility in Europe is strategically located in Germany’s Magdeburg region. It started operations in August 2023, and has the capability to directly process full EV battery packs.
New York Spoke
Our battery recycling facility located near Rochester, NY, was Li-Cycle’s first Spoke in the U.S. and started operations in 2020. The Spoke supports the growing demand for battery recycling in the northeastern U.S.
The flagship Rochester Hub facility expects to use a hydrometallurgical process and be one of the largest sources of recycled lithium carbonate in North America.
Li-Cycle and Glencore are jointly studying the feasibility of, and later develop, a Hub refining and recovery facility in Portovesme, Italy.
Li-Cycle is planning to develop a new recycling facility in France. The France Spoke is expected to directly process full EV battery packs. Development timing is currently under review.
The Norway Spoke is expected to utilize ‘Generation 3’ Spoke technology to directly process full EV battery packs. Timing and plans are currently under review.
