Li-Cycle rallies employees to join in the fight against cancer
Every spring, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) Daffodil Campaign rallies Canadians to support and remember those affected by cancer. Nearly half of all Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, which means almost every one of us will be impacted by the disease in some way.
In early May 2021, Li-Cycle officially kicked off its first fundraiser in the fight against cancer. The Zoom event featured Stephen Girling, a Logistics Supervisor with the company, having his head shaved by his wife. After Stephen successfully collected $1,335 in donations from fellow team members in support of the CCS, Li-Cycle matched each employee donation with a corporate donation of their own.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, cancer has not stopped being a life-threatening disease, which means the Canadian Cancer Society cannot stop its life-changing work either. For the second year in a row, the CCS had to suspend all face-to-face fundraising activities in order to keep everyone safe – and they need help more than ever before. From funding groundbreaking research to better prevent, detect, and treat cancer to enabling a nationwide support system, together we can help make a real difference for people affected by cancer during the pandemic and beyond.
