An emphasis on America-first supply chains when President-elect Donald Trump takes office in 2025 could increase the need for battery recycling in the US. “Some of the stances from this administration could actually drive even more demand for a domestic processing source,” Ajay Kochhar, chief executive of US battery recycler Li-Cycle, told Benchmark Source. “(Battery recycling) is an issue of critical material independence, an issue of energy independence, always was,” Kochhar said. “I think that appeals from a bipartisan perspective.”
