Manager, Engineering and Construction

Location: Mississauga, ON 

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead selection of engineering design, construction, and environmental consulting firms for the purpose of building Li-Cycle’s North American commercial facilities including the development of relevant scopes of work and request for proposals
  • Develop and manage a project management plan responsible for staffing, materials, equipment, and other services that are necessary to deliver the project(s) on time and within budget
  • Oversee facility design, technical documentation (drawings and specifications) and project budget development from an ‘Owner’s Engineer’ perspective
  • Manage construction activities including budget, productivity, progress, and safety of employees and subcontractors. Attend construction site meetings and conduct site visits, as needed
  • Manage engineering, construction and associates’ consulting contracts
  • Act as a key point of contact for regulatory groups (i.e. Ministry of the Environment), coordinating and facilitating communication and information exchange, and obtaining necessary approvals and maintaining compliance
  • Other duties as required
Job Requirements:
  • Professional engineering (P. Eng) designation with a background in civil/structural or mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in managing large-scale design and construction projects preferably in the chemical processing industry
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of trade work (mechanical, architectural, building systems, electrical and instrumentation)
  • Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of project accounting, project controls, contract management, safety, and quality
  • Demonstrated track record of executing projects on schedule and within budget
  • Excellent technical, communication, organizational, managerial and planning skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset
